What is our relationship with the “tithe for God” and IVI International ? Are we consciously serving God through the tithe, itinerances and pilgrimages?
It is important to know that this tithe for God is a part of your heart! You are giving a part of yourselves.
The crisis has brought us to understand that the kingdom of money is collapsing, and in the collapse, many families around the world are falling apart, because it is not only France or Europe that are subject to the consequences, but the whole world.
If this realization made us truly understand that we must be more generous with one another, more in solidarity with one another, then that is already a first victory. We have Invitation to Life International, but it is not a bank, it can only exist through the generosity of each one of you. This generosity allows those with no means, with absolutely no means, to travel or accomplish their mission. If this entity exists today, it is to relieve humanity of suffering, in places where we know the need and duty exist. If we realize this, then we understand what the Old Testament said. One had to pay a tithe on mint, a tithe of passage…There were many tithes, making up at least 20% of a person’s salary at the time, in the Old Testament, about 4000 years before Christ. Tithes were huge and were paid to the temples.
We don’t ask that; I am well aware of each person’s difficulty in making income last until the end of the month. It is sometimes very difficult for families, but it is important to know that this tithe for God is a part of your heart! You are giving a part of yourselves. You know, they were collecting the yellow coins, and we saw what Madame Chirac could do with those small coins collected by children. She created many centres in hospitals of Paris and elsewhere, for families to assist their children when affected by a long term illness, with many games, televisions… everything necessary to brighten up the lives of these young patients. You have to realize that small yellow coins, which at first actually bothered us in our wallets, little by little build Madame Chirac’s stream, and continues to do so.
It is an example to show you how little things, placed end to end, like drops of water which all of a sudden become a stream and then a river and then an ocean!
You are not going to give half of your paycheck, you couldn’t anyway, and it would be stupid! We simply ask you to think about the tithe for God. When you go do your everyday shopping, or perhaps occasional shopping for more luxurious items, perhaps you can set aside something in a box for God. It is of utmost importance, and the entire sum will be given over to IVI International, so that you can benefit from visits to faraway countries, many of which are here now. We always lack funds to send forth people. I am thinking of Saint Peter, Saint Luke, the House of Issa and so many others… I am thinking of Saint Patrick or elsewhere, all of Latin America, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Paraguay, and the Islands, Chile… and of course Easter Island, Oceania… Just imagine when looking at a world map, that IVI exists in all those countries.
You must understand that their suffering is not to live in faraway countries; it is rather to feel isolated from you. They need your visits. They need to know that the family gathers once in awhile. It is everyone’s happiness.
