We have to live again as we started, but looking only at our inner selves, and beginning with gently shedding all that has been placed around us, all that we have created as an illusion. 

How is it possible for a man to feel so small, degraded and destitute today?  What do we lack?  The reason is that our education has left us with a scheme, a system which we are expected to live by, but which is basically faulty.  It is a machination based on defective calculations.   A man may pass on education to his children and he does so in the same way that we too have received education – each of us has received different, but very similar education – whether it be in Egypt, Laos, Brazil or here.  We are humans who pass from border to border, yet we know nothing, we understand nothing because our behaviour has distorted all things from the very start: that is pride.

Matter has a very well-defined function, often called the ego.  We often speak about this famous ego, saying: “I no longer have an ego, I have shed my ego…” But if we utter these words, it is because we have not done it!  If we say it, it is because we have one, or else we wouldn`t speak of it.  It is the grain of sand which jams the machine.  When we start trying to see whether our ego exists, why does it come, why does it block everything? That is what must be got rid of.  We have to live again as we started, but looking only at our inner selves, and beginning with gently shedding all that has been placed around us, all that we have created as an illusion. As soon as we start to clear the ground, we will feel completely unstable, we will almost feel naked, we will say: “My God, I am arriving naked, but how will I feel in front of others?”.  And that is the beginning of perfection.
