How do we perceive the presence of God within us, as our inner guide?
We have love within us, which is incubating and is only waiting to be awakened. Earlier you said: "To know ourselves is to know how to allow God to guide us from within, to allow God to express himself through us."
It is not by doing any analysis or psychoanalysis that we know ourselves. We simply need to take a look at how we live our lives, how we act, how we speak, who we enjoy being with and who we donât, how we interact with a friendly person and someone who isnât so. Itâs very clear! But we donât see it. So, we need to take some time to be in silence, in prayer â we can often do it after a prayer â we can look and see how we are living. We might say: âItâs not possible, I canât be like that!â And so we start to work on ourselves. I am not teaching you this because you have already started on this path, but you need to know it because you have children who will one day become adults and who will also learn to discover themselves, and the discovery of self is made out of thousands of little things. First, we start discovering that we are children of God, but what does that mean? When we are in Invitation to Life, we need to share the message, but what does that mean? When Christ was on earth He said: âGo share the Good News, go and tell it, two by twoâŠâ He simply wanted to say, and the words in Hebrew bear testimony to this: âGo and say that God loves you, go and say that God is Love.â He used to repeat all the time: âI love youâ and He said: âI will recognize the ones who belong to me by the love they show to one another.â Our behaviours are unpredictable because we are human, but if we realize that we are not animals, that we donât live just with our instincts, that God gave us an intelligence to be able to understand where we are atâŠThen, if we are children of God, we are love, arenât we?
We have this love within us, which is incubating and is only waiting to be awakened. Earlier you said: âKnowing ourselves is knowing how to allow God to guide us from within, allowing God to express himself through us.â Our intelligence is very logical. In our jobs we have a need to prove our intelligence and knowledge to do our work well. But thatâs not all. We would all be much more intelligent if we allowed God to act at the time when we ourselves need to act. When we need to make a decision, instead of taking it lightly or saying: âIâll see about it tomorrowâŠâ No, you need to talk to God right at that moment as if talking to your human father or mother, but much more, because God hears and sees everything.
You're going to say to me: âWhy arenât our prayers heard?â (I receive hundreds and thousands of letters.) Because they are not clear. We are not clear with God. We ask but we donât really want it. We would like to move but we hesitate, we would like to be somewhere then somewhere else. We would like to get divorced but will the other one be better than the one Iâm leaving? And so on. You ask lots of questions and God lets you do what you want because you donât listen to Him. He speaks to you within, but you donât listen to what He says. So we want to do what we think is good and we fall headlong. Our daily dramas come from all of this.
