Am I sufficiently free of my inhibitions to be able to communicate honestly with others? And with God?

Life is a thing of incalculable richness. Every day, every second, God offers us a new experience. Nothing is static. Communication with others is above all freedom, not being chained by the things that hold us back, our weaknesses.

To communicate is to inform - If we hold onto the joy of living, all this information will be real. But we embroider this information with our uncertainties, our doubts, our anxiety, our terror, our fears... So the truth we thought we heard, and that we are trying to repeat, will no longer be anything like reality, because it will be filled with the shadows of our deepest fears. The notion of freedom is the primary value of the « apostle », the person who serves God. All the apostles who lived in close contact with Christ had to struggle with themselves, because they were all strong personalities. It was a tough fight. If they betrayed Him, there were reasons for that! They were berated everywhere– they could walk into a synagogue, but they had to leave by the back door, because otherwise the crowd would have stoned them. They escaped death a thousand times. Their courage is something that's beyond us today. The religious and Roman police were present in all the villages, there were informers everywhere. Christ had to force His way through all that with His apostles and deliver His message despite everything.

The communication between you must remain above all an expression of the joy of living. Don’t take yourselves seriously when you explain something.  You're only human beings! If we lose the joy of living, we move into the zone of superiority, pride, power, will… Joy cannot soil us, because it remains the simple expression of life. Everything is joy. Don't let us deform our attitudes, let's keep them simple and humble, let's be humble in our hearts. Appearances mean nothing, we see that all the time … We discover that people have made fortunes out of scandals… Let's stop pretending, playing with words. Let's be simple and humble, what we are, in other words, children of God. In that way, our communication will connect with others, because it will be real.

Christ used this very simple phrase which I'm going to repeat so that you can use it in your turn: « I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. » In order to show us who He is, He leaves us three basic elements which are inter-connected. The Way is light, the path. The Truth is the light that leads us to God. The Life is the profusion of creation which He offers us. We have chosen the path of honesty and integrity. It's a difficult choice – and before we made this choice, we searched for it, and we've found it. But as we travel along this path, we don't always remain in Truth. We lie to ourselves. We're not always honest with ourselves - we believe our feelings are real, and then we notice that they're a trap, a permanent hypocrisy that we share with others. Let's take a clear look at ourselves – are we one with the Truth? If we don't live it, we can't be truly part of life . If we are not one with the essence of all life, then we've taken the wrong path. Six billion humans are suffering because they haven't found the Way – some of them believe they've found it – but they are not one with the Truth, and are not really alive.

The other day at Mass, the priest said this - « It's not because you're here in church, that you receive communion and that you perform good deeds that you can be considered as a Christian. You're Christians only if all your actions stem from Love. » So it's an evolution of different things and times. Let's stop lying to ourselves, let's not be hypocrites any more.
